Logo guidelines

Print specifications

When placing your order please bear the following in mind:

Is your artwork in the right format for print?

Preferred Format

  • ‘Illustrator EPS’ file (This is an industry-standard format which should be available from your marketing department)
  • Advise your marketing department that we have “Illustrator version CS2 software”
  • All relevant Pantone colours should be included with the files.

Cannot locate an “Illustrator EPS” file?

  • We may be able to use a ‘high-resolution’ jpeg file (depending on how complex the logo is)
  • If the quality is still not good enough we may have to re-draw your logo in our studio (this may incur a cost, dependent on the amount of time it takes)
  • As with “Illustrator EPS” we need Pantone references where appropriate, as a jpeg image does not contain these.
Print Colours

As standard all products on this website have been costed including a 1 colour print.  Some products as standard already come with full colour digital print, see product descriptions for details.

We would always recommend when considering print colours, that if you looking to order a product in a light shade go for a dark print (eg black or navy) and if ordering a product in a dark shade go for a light print (eg white or yellow) to ensure your logo and text is clearly visible and legible.

If you require a product to be printed in more than 1 colour contact our office for pricing.

Print Area’s

Each product has a specific print area. This area is the actual size available on the promotional item you are looking to order.

On certain products such as pens, the print area’s are quite restricted (eg 15mm x 15mm).

Ensure you take the print area into consideration:

  • Too much text can look confusing and key messages can be lost
  • Logo’s can be quite large, and take up all the print area available
Our designers will always make recommendations and suggestions if they feel there may be a problem with a print area.

Proofs

When your order reaches our design studio an electronic  proof is produced for each item and sent to you via email. The proof is a visual of your chosen  product with the logo/text in place.

If you wish to make any changes to the artwork this is the time to do it.

If necessary you can liaise with our designers to discuss any changes you may wish to make.

Remember…

All delivery leadtimes are from receipt of approved artwork. We do not put any product into production until we receive your signed & faxed proof.

As soon as we receive your signed artwork the product then goes into production and cancellation of your order at this stage will incur costs.

Important notes

  • Please note that Word Documents and Publisher files are also NOT acceptable for print purposes. They always require some re-drawing on our part.
  • As Local Authorities have very strict brand guidelines on how their logo’s can and cannot be reproduced we would not be allowed to ‘re-draw’ their logo. This has to be supplied to us in the correct format mentioned above ‘Illustrator EPS’.
  • Should you wish to include a child’s drawing or some piece of artwork in a design please supply us with the original drawing. We can then scan the document and manipulate accordingly. Otherwise the above formats apply.
  • Any photographs to be used in artwork MUST be of a high quality to be used in print, by using a good quality digital camera (4 mega-pixel upwards). If you have conventional (film) photos, as with drawings and artwork we need the original prints or preferably negatives.

We trust you have found this information of interest, should you have any further queries on supplying artwork please contact studiousers@silk-group.com
